Hey friends! I just finished the initial design phase for a client and thought it would be fun to show you from moodboard one, how a design plan can change to fit specific needs, or preferences! My goal is for you to LOVE your room when its complete, so I’m ALWAYS happy to edit along the way to end up with the perfect final product! For this specific project a sweet Mimi wanted to have a room done for her grandsons when they come to stay, but also plans to use the room for other guests! She wanted to include adventure and traveling as subtle touches. Follow along as I show you how we got to our finished design!
Ok, so above is the initial moodboard I designed after an in home consultation with my client. This project happened to be local, but for my clients that are distance, I gather all the info I need from the design survey that they fill out before I begin. Things that I took into consideration were ample toy storage, matching but also coordinating for distinct looks that each kiddo could identify as “their” bed. We also needed blackout curtains because every toddler mom knows #sleep. 🙂
Once my client reviewed the board she had questions about some possible safety concerns so I researched some alternative options…She ended up liking what I sourced originally, but its always nice to know there are additional options if what I originally choose isn’t something you love! Also, we needed a longer piece for toy storage, keep following along and you’ll see how that morphed also 🙂
Ok, so what you’re seeing above is some pricing options. One of the things I’m happy to offer is good design at any price point. It doesn’t have to be a huge financial burden to finally finish a room that you’ve been staring at for months wondering what to put where. Alternatively if you have a larger budget and are wanting to purchase investment pieces that’s an option too!
The art you choose for a room is the BEST way to add personal touches! I mentioned above this client wanted to subtly add the theme of adventure, so these two prints add a touch of whimsy and the message is spot on!
If you’re still with me I’m super impressed, HA! But here is the final design we landed on! I think it’s the perfect mix of boyish fun, and versatile enough for adults to stay without feeling out of place. The warm tones are inviting, and the pattern play with the rug and curtains adds dimension! The adorable toy boxes went out of stock so those are on hold for now, and we are still deciding on the perfect pillows for the beds. I always say, design is a process! 🙂
I’ll bring you along to see the finished project probably sometime next week! These lucky little boys will be breaking in their new room at Christmas and I can’t wait to hear how they like it!
Till next time friends! Stay warm and cozy out there and let me know if you need help pulling a room together before your holiday hosting begins!
xoxo
