We're Alex and Breanne! While wrangling our four kiddos, we have a bad habit of  accidentally taking on WAY too many DIY projects :) Breanne loves to feed friends and fellowship around their kitchen table and Alex dreams of filling their 7 acres with every farm animal alive. Thanks for stopping in, we hope you find something fun and encouraging while you're here!

Client Projects, Design, Kids Rooms

I’m so excited to share after photos today of the fun little boys room that I previously showed you the design plan for! My sweet friend and VERY talented photographer Carrie Cantrell of Eventidephotography captured the room SO beautifully!

One of my favorite parts of designing for clients is incorporating their personal touches. This sweet client wanted to be able to use this room for guests as well as her grandsons so she asked that I try to not make it overly “child-ish”. A way that I found to make it whimsical but also mature was mixing art styles. I love this print I sourced from Minted that depicts famous building from around the world.

The quilts we picked are some of my absolute favorites from Pottery Barn. Some of you might be thinking, WHITE?! For kids?! Friends, one word for you. WASHABLE. ha! Its such clean start to a palette to have a blank slate on the bed and these are particularly soft which I love for kiddos!

Another design question I get a lot is can you layer a rug over carpet. I say absolutely YES! Adds interest and color and this one from Target was so plush it makes a nice, soft place to play on the floor!

My favorite piece the room is a close race, but the chest wins my heart in the end! I am a big fan of drawers for a side table..especially in a kiddos room, think…diapers and wipes, hiding unsightly toys, or even a flashlight and book for older kiddos! The finish on this beauty was something a little more fresh than a flat navy. Add fun hardware and I’m sold!

I would be amiss if I didn’t highlight the beautiful beds. They are crazy affordable and I love that they are flat so you can comfortably lean against them to read a story or snuggle 🙂 The vintage look has my heart!

Just a friendly reminder that toys can also be used as “decor” in a kids room!

I hope y’all enjoyed seeing the finished product! Next time I need to take before pictures so you can see the whole transformation! I hope to be better about posting more of these projects the new year!! Tackling that room that you never really like OR don’t use because it doesn’t have purpose doesn’t have to hard! Let me help!
